What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, it occurs in abundance within the hemp plant and can be extracted very efficiently. CBD is part of a family of compounds called cannabinoids. Cannabinoids occur naturally within our bodies and regulate many functions such as inflammation, mood, neural signalling and pain response. Willo CBD Oil is extracted from organically grown hemp using distillation.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system is what responds when we take CBD, it is made up of receptors that are located throughout our brain, central nervous system and all over our bodies. It plays a vital role in maintaining our physiological balance and wellbeing.

How does CBD benefit us?

CBD helps to soften the impact that our lifestyle choices have on our bodies. Things like our diet, sleep pattern or work stress can affect our physiology and sense of wellbeing. The endocannabinoid system has the role of restoring this balance, by taking CBD you are supplementing this system in restoring homeostasis. Feel free to contact us directly to find out more.

Why are cannabinoids important?

We have cannabinoids naturally occurring within our bodies, not many people are aware but human breastmilk contains cannabinoids, most notably anandamide and another known as 2-AG. Anandamide is derived from the Sanskrit word for ‘bliss’, our bodies produce anandamide when we exercise, or eat chocolate. Research has shown that the cannabinoids found in breast milk help to protect the neurons in the postnatal development of the brain.
